This program focuses on Indoor Air Quality and is designed for products used in homes, schools, daycares or other environments where children spend significant periods of time. The program offers stricter certification criteria than other programs and is referenced by both the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building rating system.
Children are more sensitive to environmental exposures than adults because their bodies and brains are still developing. They breathe faster than adults and in return receive a higher dose of indoor pollution per body weight. To account for inhalation exposure to young children, a body burden correction factor has been applied to the current GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified® allowable levels. To achieve GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification, these lower allowable emissions criteria must be met along with additional chemical criteria regarding VOCs, Formaldehydes and Phthalates.
At TULIP Juvenile we take the safety and well being of children very seriously. Besides our constant commitment to be eco-conscious and produce a quality product, we have voluntarily gone the 'extra mile' by becoming certified for both cribs and furniture.
